New Music Tuesday 21 - Walleater (Pavement Cover)

Posted by Alex Bohea on February 25, 2014

A weekly feature here at The Great Divide Blog is our New Music Tuesday; introducing you to an artist or band you may not have heard of. We can’t guarantee that you won’t have heard of them, but if that’s the case, it might give you a little reminder to revisit them sometime soon.

We're really excited about this one. One of our favourite new bands, Walleater, have been kind enough to gift us an exclusive download of their cover of Pavement's 'Grounded'. Taken from their 'A Masking Aura' EP, the cover was originally only available on the physical tape itself with not even a stream available online. Until now, the only people to hear the cover are those who own the tape, which was limited to 50 copies and is now long sold out. That's where we step in. Thanks to Close to Home Records, Cult Culture, and the band themselves, we present to you an exclusive stream and download of the track.

Walleater are a shoegaze/alternative band from Leeds and to be quite frank, they're awesome. Their EP, released at the tail end of 2013, came out to some very pleasing critical reception. The EP featured their two original demo tracks having been remixed and remastered, as well as the cover you're about to hear.

Coming next week, we'll have part two of Walleater's New Music Tuesday, featuring an exclusive interview with the band. Until then, check out what you've been waiting for below:
