Grime MCs Painted as Historic Noblemen for Tate Britain

Posted by Lee Goldup on December 06, 2015

You may have spotted these online a few months back, but Reuben Dangoor's epic paintings of some of Grime's biggest MCs have just been put on display in Tate Britain. Dubbed Legends of the Scene, the artworks show Skepta, Stormzy, Dizzee Rascal, D Double E and Wiley mounted on white horses, Union Jack in arm, or posing in a cozy drawing room.

Dangoor says “I love the fact that garage and grime are finally getting the love it deserves. Felt like I wanted to honour some of the legends of the scene in a historical way.”

Launched a few days ago as part of the museum’s Late Night series. Head to the Tate to see it properly
