New Music Tuesday 17 - My Panda Shall Fly

Posted by Alex Bohea on January 14, 2014

A weekly feature here at The Great Divide Blog is our New Music Tuesday; introducing you to an artist or band you may not have heard of. We can’t guarantee that you won’t have heard of them, but if that’s the case, it might give you a little reminder to revisit them sometime soon.

We’re back for 2014! Firstly I’d like to say a big thank you to all of the artists who were a part of the 2013 editions, especially those we did interviews with and gave their time up for us. Now, onwards to the future, and this week we’re looking at London-based, Sri Lankan born producer My Panda Shall Fly.

Suren Seneviratne, the man behind My Panda Shall Fly, first caught me eye for the exceptionally good video and tune for Opening Brace which is in collaboration with Adventure Elephant. The video is an awkwardly deadpan fun look at a day in the life of Suren, which you can view below, but what we’re focusing on is the music behind it.

My Panda Shall Fly certainly has an eclectic output, with tracks ranging from chillout ambient bleeps, to synthing tunes with glitches and video game-esque rhythms. That’s not a bad thing, as his variety makes him stand out among fellow producers. His music is thoughtful and enchanting, and you should definitely check him out.
