New Music Tuesday 27 - The People The Poet

A weekly feature here at The Great Divide Blog is our New Music Tuesday; introducing you to an artist or band you may not have heard of. We can’t guarantee that you won’t have heard of them, but if that’s the case, it might give you a little reminder to revisit them sometime soon.
The People The Poet are a band from Cardiff who I recently saw supporting Deaf Havana on Thursday in Brighton. It’s always a good shout to pay a little bit of attention to support bands while drinking beer/smoking/buying merch/just waiting around and this band are one of those reasons. The reason they’re so good is because of the incredibly interesting story behind them.
Lyrics are one of the hardest parts of being in a band but not for The People The Poet. A fairly genius move from them, the band have people send them their genuine life stories of happiness, love and loss. The band then take these stories and turn them into their own songs which is quite lovely really as these stories get to travel among many a listening ear.
They have a new album out entitled ‘The Narrator’ which has the coolest artwork/housing for a CD I’ve seen in a while. Check out a copy if you can!
