New Music Tuesday 01 - JAWS
Posted by Alex Bohea on September 03, 2013
A new, weekly feature here at The Great Divide Blog is our New Music Tuesday; introducing you to an artist or band you may not have heard of. We can’t guarantee that you won’t have heard of them, but if that’s the case, it might give you a little reminder to revisit them sometime soon.
As I’m heading off to Bestival this weekend, I thought my pick for this week should be a young Birmingham four piece that I’m really looking forward to watching on the Replay stage Sunday evening. The band in question are JAWS and the reason for this is the end-of-summer vibe that is currently hanging in the air, which combines perfectly with their infectiously buoyant garage pop. Drawing similarities to fellow Birmingham outfit Peace, JAWS’ music will make you wish for that summer would stay for just a while longer.
Recently making an appearance on the BBC Introducing stage at Reading and Leeds, I can safely guess that the band are on the brink of blowing up thanks to their combination of shimmery guitars and dulcet vocals. After their Bestival performance, they’ll be on tour for the rest of September, covering the country and ending with a show at The Barfly in London.
A perfect introduction to the band is their EP, Milkshake, released at the start of 2013 which great for the band but unfortunately for us sold out. Thankfully there are still some jams on their Soundcloud, which you can check out below and for more information go to www.jawsjawsjaws.co.uk.
