In 1909 Thomas L.Kay and his family moved to Pendleton in northeastern Oregon and took over the defunct Pendleton Woolen Mills and started there business there. Since then Pendleton has become renowned for their Native American inspired blanket designs and durable woollen shirts. Today the company is still privately owned by the family and operates across eight facilities in America.
The Pendleton Modern Icon blankets are 163cm x 183 cm. Coming in a fluffy napped wool they feature bold elements from traditional Pendleton patterns in pared-down colour palettes. The result is subtle and sophisticated, modern icons at home in any setting. The Plains Star blanket is inspired bv Great Plains Native Americans who used an eight-pointed geometric star on hide paintings, tipis, beaded moccasins and clothing, with each point corresponding to one of the planets that shine as the Morning Star. Using muted colors that echo the original painted hides, the Morning Star rises, promising a new day. Felt binding.
