Red Wing was founded in 1905 by Charles Beckman in Red Wing, Minnesota. Mr Beckman saw a need for shoes specifically designed for the demanding work of the local industries such as mining, logging and farming. His aim was to make hardwearing durable footwear, that was also comfortable to wear.
The Red Wing Work Chukka's are rugged in heritage and casual in appearance. The style was designed for indoor work, where a lighter weight boot was needed to make chores more comfortable to do. The pliable sole was better suited for bending, climbing and kneeling and wouldn't mark the floor. The 3149 features Red Wing’s signature Atlas Tred polyurethane outsole, premium Olive Mohave leather and Goodyear welt construction for the perfect lightweight, comfortable boot.

* Roughout leather is created using a reverse-suede technique. While most tanneries split, thin and weaken the hide to create the rough suede surface, Red Wing simply use the other side of the hide. By doing so, it avoid splitting or thinning full-grain hides that makes Roughout leather just as strong and durable as our other leathers.
