Red Wing was founded in 1905 by Charles Beckman in Red Wing, Minnesota. Mr Beckman saw a need for shoes specifically designed for the demanding work of the local industries such as mining, logging and farming. His aim was to make hardwearing durable footwear, that was also comfortable to wear.
The Red Wing Iron Ranger 8111 has a history associated with the iron mining in Minnesota's Mesabi Range. The miners needed a durbale, tough boot that a northern Minnesota mine pit presented. Red Wing therefore created a boot made of thick leather, with an oil resistant outsole, and most important, the double layered toe which protected the miners feet from injury.
The Iron Ranger 811 is a rugged 6-Inch boot, which featured premium Amber Harness leather, chrome hardware, speed hooks, Goodyear welt construction, triple stitched quality, plus a durable Vibram® 430 Mini-lug sole for grip while maintaining the classic Iron Ranger construction and silhouette.
