Scout Boot - Black Waxy Commander
Founded in 1931 by Ed Viberg, the Canadian company is now in its 3rd generation and is still entirely family owned and operated. Viberg use traditional manufacturing methods and only the best materials sourced from around the world: brass tacks from England, heavyweight insoles from Spain, Vibram outsoles and the finest upper leathers from renowned tanneries in the USA and Italy. There are over 200 steps that go into producing a pair of Viberg boots and all of them are performed in their own facility by skilled craftspeople.
Originally designed for the Japanese market in 2010, Viberg's Scout Boot pattern is a reference to Viberg's #45 Hunter boot, a 10” tall-industrial style boot dating to the early 1950s. Presented this season in a Loden Janus Calf Sueded, they've updated the design and height of the Scout Boot to 6” and have built each pair using a lightweight Viberg Goodyear Channeled insole. C.F. Stead's Commander is a rugged, heavyweight waxed leather that has been specially cured to shrink and tighten the fibre structure, resulting in an extremely tough, durable, water-resistant waxed suede. It features a very waxy touch and high pull-up that allows for slow development of colour and texture.
