Gitman Vintage draws on the heritage of their father's company to produce truly unique shirts. Each season they hand-select the finest prints, scouring the globe for diverse fabrics and taking inspiration from their own back catalog. Crafted in the USA and taking modern inspiration from some classic styles.
What appears as a standard plaid at first glance is revealed to be an incomprehensibly complex dobby weave that seems to break with all standard fabric conventions. The fabric masters at Gitman's partner mill in Japan found a way to create an irregular weave that does not repeat and instead uses a completely randomized structure. This isn't a 2x2 like Hopsack or oxford, nor is it a 3x3 like triple yarns. Instead, it's a 5x1 in one place, a 1x1 in another, a 2x3 somewhere else, and so on.
This chaotic yet organic weave calls to mind TV static, spider webs, or even shattered glass. And while it's unclear how it was created, Gitman knows it makes a killer shirt!

This classic button-down shirt is cut slim with a tailored fit through the body and sleeves. Unlined collars and cuffs and our pre-washing process create a softer look and help to minimize additional shrinkage. Made in the USA.
