In 1881 Richard Sears won the US National Championship (now known as the US Open) at the Newport Casino in Rhode Island. He remained undefeated until challenger Henry Slocum took the crown in 1888. Both of these legendary tennis players used Peck & Snyder rackets and have since been inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame.
