Blundstone boots originated in 1870 in Hobart, Tasmania, founded by John and Eliza Blundstone who had moved from Derbyshire, England, to make sturdy footwear for Aussie workers. The company was later purchased by the Cuthbertson family, who had also arrived in Tasmania and were experienced footwear manufacturers. Throughout the 20th century, the company grew and is now known for its iconic 500 slip-on Chelsea boot, having supplied boots to the Australian army during WW2.
