Our research turned up a fundraising game played at the Polo Grounds in 1919 between the Actors and the Songwriters. The Thespians defeated the Songwriters and raised $15,000 for their charity. One hundred boxes at $100 each were sold to notable New Yorkers such as Henry Morgenthaul and Yankees owner Jacob Ruppert. The Police Glee Club, Hebrew Orphan Asylum band, and many Vaudeville entertainers also appeared at the event.
