Shaun Lowry started Atlantic Coastal Supplies in 2023, drawing on a life spent between the Gulf Coast of Florida and Cornwall. Two places separated by 4,450 miles, but connected by the same Atlantic coast - and, as it turns out, a shared appreciation for good, unfussy things.
Before starting ACS, Lowry worked as Concept Designer at RRL. Ah, of course, we hear you say. Suddenly that seemingly effortless ease of taste makes a lot more sense. It also explains why you’ll find RRL Vintage Guru Doug Bihlmaier sporting the brand, a fitting endorsement from someone who knows a thing or two about the good stuff.
One lesson Lowry took from his time at RRL was the importance of letting a brand’s own world act as a filter. Knowing what belongs, what doesn’t, and perhaps most importantly, whether something resonates without needing an explanation. ACS executes this beautifully.
There’s wool that still resembles sheep. Jersey that carries some proper weight. Made-in-USA thermals and hoodies. Scottish-spun lambswool. Nothing feels overworked or unnecessarily clever. There are no shortcuts here; if something is simple, it’s simply done very well.
And that matters when nostalgia is part of the equation. You can’t build a wardrobe around memory and expect things to fall apart after a season. Longevity is part of the reference. The clothes need to live long enough to acquire their own stories, wear their own history, and eventually become someone else’s point of reference.
